Granite is a family of open foundation models from IBM that are built with transparency of data and methods, a standard Apache 2.0 license, and are engineered to enable use cases and deployment contexts that are often found in enterprises and other demanding deployment scenarios – across language, code, time series, documents and images, and geospatial data, in cloud and local, and proven for enterprise applications.
The mission of the Granite Community is to work collaboratively across industries and geographies to leverage Granite to solve problems and bring value across use cases, from code generation and modernization, to forecasting and predictive maintenance, to document understanding and interaction, to scientific discovery and beyond.
We want you in the kitchen.
We want you to be a part of Granite Community – as a user, a contributor, or a maintainer. We want to collaborate with you as an individual or with your organization on something new, interesting, and useful to our community.
We’re particularly interested in:
- Code, including complex use cases in large and legacy code bases, including explanation, translation, test generation, and text-to-SQL generation.
- Finance, legal, and marketing use cases of language and multimodal models, especially in agentic scenarios and utilizing graph-based and other structured data engineering as well as live internet search.
- Time series use cases, including especially in the areas of forecasting, anomaly detection, regression optimization, quality prediction, classification, and time series segmentation.
- Geospatial use cases, including in weather and climate, biomass, land use including fire, flood and coverage predictions with temporal capabilities, energy, and beyond.
- Scientific discovery use cases, including in chemistry, materials, therapeutics, and health.
