We are excited to announce a deeper collaboration between the AI Alliance and Meta’s Llama Stack, marking a significant milestone in advancing open-source AI development. The AI Alliance officially supports Llama Stack as a foundational AI application framework designed to empower developers, enterprises, and partners in building and deploying AI applications with ease and confidence.

The AI Alliance’s mission is to foster open collaboration on AI agents, models, and safety, and this collaboration aligns perfectly with that vision. Together, we aim to accelerate innovation, drive adoption, and cultivate a thriving ecosystem around Llama Stack, setting a new industry standard for open-source AI.

What is Llama Stack?

Llama Stack defines and standardizes the core building blocks needed to bring generative AI applications to market. It provides a unified set of APIs with implementations from leading service providers, enabling seamless transitions between development and production environments. It addresses a critical gap in the private-hosting AI market by aligning the unique needs of multiple stakeholders:

  • Enterprise customers across industries need AI solutions that meet relevant data security, safety, performance, cost & regulatory requirements while benefiting from the flexibility of optimized hardware & software with the latest AI technology.
  • Software & Hardware infrastructure providers need to deliver trusted, verified and scalable AI platforms that ensure flexibility for customers while addressing critical AI enterprise use cases.
  • Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) want to build and distribute AI applications that meet infrastructure provider expectations and enterprise requirements.

Llama Stack supports key enterprise use cases including software development, knowledge search, data analytics, and customer support. Its modular design and multi-environment support enable deployment across local, cloud, mobile, and private-hosted environments with minimal code changes.

Key features of Llama Stack include:

  • Unified APIs for inference, safety, memory, agents and telemetry, with planned enhancements for evaluation, fine tuning, and synthetic data generation.
  • Python, Typescript, Android, and iOS SDKs which leverage the APIs for AI application development.
  • Expansive choice of implementations of the unified APIs via a comprehensive partner ecosystem with major AI infrastructure providers.
  • Verified and certified distributions from partners, such as IBM and Red Hat, that ensure consistent performance and quality across providers.
  • Choice of AI applications built by the ISV ecosystem which work seamlessly on any certified distribution.
  • Mobile SDKs and on-device inference capabilities for real-time, quantized AI applications on mobile devices.

By supporting Llama Stack, the AI Alliance furthers its goal to democratize AI technology, enabling developers and enterprises to build AI applications that are customizable, secure, and scalable. This collaboration also fosters community engagement and ecosystem growth, positioning Llama Stack as a leading platform to drive open-source AI innovation.
