The AI Alliance Comment on NIST AI 800-1 Initial Public Draft: “Managing Misuse of Dual-Use Foundation Models”

In July 2024, AI Safety Institute of the US National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) published an initial draft on “Managing Misuse Risk for Dual-Use Foundation Models” to provide guidelines for improving the safety, security, and trustworthiness of dual-use foundation models.
The AI Alliance provided a detailed response to the document in September 2024. NIST adopted many of our recommendations and published the second public draft in January 2025.
