- Name: Zhuo Li
- Title: Founder & CEO, HydroX AI
- Fun fact: I am a big fan of movies and photography. As a side gig, I work with a few friends on creating independent movies that delve into the socioeconomic issues in our society (and won awards at film festivals)!
Tell us about yourself and what you are responsible for at your company?
I am a 15yr+ cybersecurity veteran, with past experience at companies including Bytedance (parent company of TikTok), Meta, and Linkedin. Currently, as the founder & CEO of HydroX AI, I lead the company on strategy, product, and go-to-market. It’s exciting to lead our small (for now!) but incredibly talented team in building a future of safe AI.
Why did you and/or your organization join AI Alliance?
We chose to join the AI Alliance because we believe the existence of such an organization is crucial for fostering collaboration and innovation across the AI community. It enables organizations to contribute to and benefit from collective advancements, ensuring that AI development is transparent, ethical, and inclusive. HydroX AI plans to leverage shared resources, expertise, and best practices to accelerate technological progress while mitigating risks. Additionally, we believe proactively contributing to an open-source alliance promotes interoperability and standardization, which are essential for creating robust, scalable, and widely adoptable AI solutions.
What’s a project you’re working on right now? Why is it meaningful to you?
We are currently working on a project, in collaboration with IBM and the rest of the members of the Trust & Safety workgroup, to establish a robust evaluation framework and conduct proof of concept pilots to demonstrate the safety and practical utility of LLMs within selected high-stakes domains. This is a deeply meaningful project because recent advancements in AI have given rise to sophisticated Large Language Models (LLMs) with potentially transformative impacts across high-stakes domains such as healthcare, financial services, and legal. While these models offer substantial benefits, their application in areas requiring critical decision-making demands rigorous evaluation to ensure safety, precision, and ethical integrity.
How does AI Alliance mission align with your organizations core values?
At HydroX AI, we are building safe AI and enabling AI safety. This is strongly aligned with AI Alliance’s mission in advancing safe, responsible AI rooted in open innovation.
What about an open approach to AI innovation inspires you?
I believe an open approach to AI innovation not only accelerates the development of cutting-edge solutions but also enhances security, privacy, and compliance. By embracing open AI innovation, we can better address the unique challenges faced by our target industries, ultimately enabling us to deliver more reliable, trustworthy, and scalable AI solutions to our stakeholders.
What's next on the horizon for your organization?
We recently launched our automated evaluation platform (EPASS) to identify risks and vulnerabilities in LLMs and run inference level detection on the safety and security of model input and output. This is only the first of many steps in building an end-to-end AI security platform that will also include modules on automated risk mitigation, real-time incident response, etc. Our mission is to help 10,000 enterprises harness the transformative power of AI by 2030 safely, securely and responsibly.
